Exams in both practical and theory are available to students once they reach a certain level of musical ability. Once we feel the student is at an appropriate level to start preparing for exams, this is discussed with the student and / or Parent / Caregiver.
Exams are not a requirement, however is suggested for suitable students to help them maintain a steady learning regime, and progress to the next level. They also provide a great feeling of self satisfaction and often increases student determination to succeed in music.
We are very proud of the outstanding success rate and high results that have been received from Hallmark Music Studio students in both theory and practical exams. We once again received 100% success rate in 2013 with the majority of students being awarded with A's. Over 60 students at both practical and theory exams from Preliminary level through to Proficiency / Grade 8 in participated in 2013.
Exams are offered through both the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and the Australian Guild of Music Education (AGME). Both examinations bodies are well recognised throughout Australia and the Pacific.
Options to study classical or modern / leisure syllabus for piano, modern keyboard, and modern Guitar, plus theory are available through both examining bodies. Exams in singing, flute, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet and trombone are also offered.
Exam levels range from Preparatory (Step 1), through to Diploma levels with the AGME, and Preliminary through to Diploma levels with the AMEB for piano and keyboard.

Exams are not everyones idea of "fun" and we are certainly keen to encourage students in the musical direction that they wish to follow.
